Emerging Indian goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh has been a rising force in the junior football. The 18-year-old from Manipur has showed his caliber in the 2017 U-17 World Cup in India and later went onto play for Indian Arrows in I-League where he kept three cleansheets in six matches.

After leaving Arrow, there were speculations that the youngster may join Motherwell after he appeared for a three months trial with the Scottish club. The club gave him a 3-year contract but he was not able to make it following some problems with working VISA after which he joined ISL club Kerala Blasters.

Dheeraj was interviewed by Indian Super League where he opens about the reason why he choosed to play for Blasters.

On his experience with Motherwell and Bournemouth

“It was a great opportunity for me…. i had a great time and it was a pleasure for me to be there for three months. I have given a trial with Motherwell, and two weeks in Bournemouth. It was a real challenge for me. It lets you know the football in UK, especially in the Premier League where there are better sides as compared to any other football leagues. I have learned alot from there and looking forward to learning in future as well.

On joining Kerala Blasters

“After i quit Indian Arrows, i went for a trial to Motherwell. I even got a three year contract but i was not able to make it because i had problem with my working Visa. So finally i had to come back to India and decided to join Kerala Blasters because David James is there.

“I thought it will be the right decision for me to train under him, he have been such a great goalkeeper in his career. That’s the reason i chose Kerala Blasters,” he said.
