Rohit Sharma played a blistering innings of 119 runs off just 128 balls to help India register a convincing 7 wickets victory over an up-roaring Australia in the final ODI match of the series in Bengaluru on Sunday. Rohit stitched a 69 run stand with KL Rahul for the first wicket to provide a solid start to India, who were Shikhar Dhawan short as he could not bat in the match following an injury.

After the departure of local boy Rahul, he added 137 runs for 2nd wicket to put India in a commanding position. After his dismissal, skipper Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer ensured that they take the India to the target easily.

Rohit becomes the third fastest batsman to score 9000 runs in ODI

Team India’s ‘hitman’ Rohit Sharma recorded a special feat to his name in the third and decisive one-day. He became the third fastest batsman to score 9000 runs in one-day Internationals. He recorded this special achievement during the Indian innings with two runs off the second ball of the first over. Rohit achieved this feat in 217 innings and broke the record of legends like Sachin Tendulkar (235) and Sourav Ganguly (228).

Virat Kohli is the fastest batsman in the world to score 9000 runs in 194 innings and is followed by South African legend Ab de Villiers, who has scored same amount of runs in 205 innings.

Earlier, ‘Hitman’ had also crossed the seven thousand run mark as an opener in one-day international cricket as he scored his 18th run against Australia in Rajkot One-Day International.
