Twitterverse criticied Kings XI Punjab skipper Ravichandran Ashwin for controversially dismissing Rajasthan Royals’ Jos Buttler in an IPL encounter on Monday. RR was in a comfortable position, chasing a target of 185 runs set by KXIP when English batsman Jos Buttler was batting at 69 runs, but a controversial run out meant that Royals lost the plot.
Buttler was at the non-striking end when Ashwin was bowling the last ball of 13th over of the game. The bowler stopped just before bowling the delivery and dismantled the bails as Buttler was found out of the crease.
Buttler was angry with Ashwin for appealing which is against the spirit of the game. The umpires referred the decision to the third umpire, who deemed the batsman run out. In the scenario, the bowler may warn the batsman first before appealing to the umpire if he commits the mistake for the second time in the same game.
Cricketing fraternity split in two after the controversial dismissal by Ravichandran Ashwin.
