Former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has hailed India captain Virat Kohli’s work principle saying that Virat’s ability to identify his weak areas and determination to improve is the best part about him.

“I could (always) see the hunger and the fire in his eyes. The best part about him is that the moment he realises there are areas he needs to work on he is immediately back in the nets working on those things,” Tendulkar was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

“A player can only move forward if he accepts – and it requires a lot to accept and admit: ‘Okay, these are the areas where I have not done well and I need to go out and change these things.

Kohli had a tremendous record in test cricket from last 2 years, notching up six double hundreds. However, he hadn’t had a great outing when he last toured England in 2014, scoring 134 runs in five Tests at an average of 13.40.

Tendulkar advised Kohli to continue the way he prepares before a match and not think too much about the up’s and down’s in his form.

“He is in a good space. All he needs to do is try and be in the same space. His method of preparing himself before a tour, before a game is really nice. He should continue with that. There are going to be ups and downs, there could be bad tours, but that’s not the end of the world.”

India play England in the first test starting on Wednesday. There can be several changes in the batting order as head coach Ravi Shastri stated earlier.

There can be a change in opening combination as KL Rahul can open the batting with Murali Vijay. In the middle order Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane will be India’s strength. Dinesh Karthik, Hardik Pandya will form the lower middle order.

In the bowling department Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav are certain in the playing 11 bu there is a debate over the selection of the 3 spinners.
