Sarfraz Ahmed set to become new captain of Pakistan’s test team
Shahryar Khan the president of Pakistan Cricket board(PCB) announced Sarfraz Ahmed as the new captain of Pakistan on Tuesday. Pakistan defeated India under the leadership of Sarfraz to clinch all important Champions trophy last month in London. Ahmed will now lead Pakistan in all three formats.
Post Champions trophy triumph, Shahryar termed Sarfraz as the best man to lead Pakistan in the welcome ceremony held at the Prime Minister residence. With Misbah-Ul- Haq retiring in May, the post of test captain was left vacant which is now filled by this Karachi born lad.
The people of Pakistan often term him as the new age “Imran Khan”. As he has repeated the heroics of the great allrounder in the Champions Trophy 2017 like Imran did in 1992 world cup. However, some people believe that he is MS Dhoni of Pakistan who will create magical decisions to take Pakistan cricket to new height. Time will only tell his success story.
On the appointment, Sarfraz said: “I am honoured to be appointed Test captain. I will do my best to lift the team in all three formats and will not rest on Champions Trophy laurels.”
