India’s top ranked men’s singles player Sathiyan Gnanasekaran signs with ASV Grunwettersbach Tischtennis, which is German Bundesliga’s top division table tennis club. Sathiyan produced some scintilating table tennis in his CWG debut last month in Gold Coast, where he won three medals- a men’s team gold, silver in men’s doubes alongside the legendary Sharath Kamal and a mixed doubles bronze with Manika Batra.

He was also a part of the Indian men’s team that scripted history by producing the best performance till date, to finish 13th in the World Team Championships in Sweden last week.

“I am really happy on becoming the second Indian to sign up with a club after Sharath Kamal in the most prestigious league in the world, i am looking forward to playing against world class players and I think it will be a great experience,” Sathiyan told PTI as reported by Times Of India.

“I am looking forward to playing with players like Timo Ball, (Simon) Gauzy and Hugo (Calderano),” added Sathiyan.

India’s ace paddler will join his team in September after the Asian Games in Jakarta.

The 25-years-old from Chennai will also feature in Ultimate Table Tennis, having retained by DABANG SMASHERS T.T.C. in season 2. He went unbeaten in the first season of UTT.
