After the rise of Imran Khan from cricket to politics has inspired many in the country and Shahid Afridi may have again taken up the inspiration from the former captain. Afridi recently commented on the controversial Kashmir issue and proposed that Pakistan should release “Kashmir” as its unable to handle its four provinces.
In a viral video on social media, Afridi was seen addressing a group of students in London. The former captain said that Pakistan is not interested in Kashmir and the country should make the region Independent. He went onto say that they will not be handing Kashmir to India as well.
“I say Pakistan doesn’t want Kashmir. Don’t give it to India either. Let Kashmir be independent. At least humanity will be alive. Let people not die,” he said.
“Pakistan doesn’t want Kashmir. It can’t even manage its four provinces. The big thing is insaaniyat (humanity). People who are dying there, it is painful. Any death, be it from any community, is painful,” Afridi said.
A ray of reactions
After some serious politically rich comments, Afridi faced the heat from his countrymen who criticized him for his comments.
However, Indian people took a dig at Afridi including India’s home minister Rajnath Singh who said that the remarks of Afridi are absolutely correct.
“Baat to thik kaha unhone. Woh Pakistan nahi sambhal pa rahe, Kashmir kya sambhal paayenge. Kashmir Bharat ka part tha, hai, aur rahega,” Singh said in a press conference.
