Former Australian great Shane Warne is possibly the best spinners of all time but probably also the most controversial figure in world cricket. The 49-year-old has got into headlines following his explicit relationships with models and pornstars. However amid all these controversies he has never given a verdict on the best batsman of his time between Brian Lara and Sachin Tendulkar.
“Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara, easily, were the best batsmen of our generation, my time. If I want someone to score a hundred on the final day of the Test series, I would send Lara. But if I want someone to bat for my life day in, day out, I would send Tendulkar, he was a class act,” Warne told NDTV.
Sachin and Lara were probably the two best batsman in the era of Shane Warne. He had fierce rivalry with both the greats but Sachin surely gave him some nightmares when he competed against him in the 1998 tour of India. Since then it was a see-saw battle but Sachin surely had the last laugh against Warne when it comes to head-to-head.
Warne had played 14 test against India where he just picked 43 wickets. The record may be an ordinary one for Warne considering his illustrious career figures but it may be impressive for any other bowler of the world.
