India’s star performer Smriti Mandhana equals the record for the fastest fifty in women’s T20 cricket during a Kia Super League face-off between Loughborough Lightning and Western Storm.

Mandhana brought up a well made half a ton in just 18 balls, equalling the record of New Zealand’s Sophie Devine. The New Zealander set the record in 2015 playing against India.

Mandhana also created the tournament record for fastest fifty as her team beat Loughborough Lightning by 18 runs in a rain derailed match cut short by 6 overs-a-side.

Earlier in the match, Loughborough Lighting won the toss and choosed to bowl first. Player of the match Smriti Mandhana came to open and notched up 52 runs in just 19 balls which included four sixes and five fours to take the score to 85/2 after 6 overs.

Merrily, Devine, who was playing for Loughborough’s, top-scored with 46 but that was not enough to take her side home after they manage 67/0 after 6 overs.
