Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly congratulated Imran Khan, who is set to become the Prime Minister of Pakistan after his party emerged as the leader in general elections.
“Congratulations to him. He has been fighting for a long time and now he is set to become the prime minister of Pakistan,” Ganguly said at annual awards ceremony of Cricket Association of Bengal in Kolkata.
People started believing Imran Khan to be a great political leader of future after his influential speech at 1992 world cup final, where his team defeated England to be crowned the champions. Four years later he joined politics but was not successful in initial days. In a political career taking rounds in personal life, he continued the dedication and hard work which was finally paid off at 2018 general elections.
Imran’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf won 115 out of the 272 seats in National Assembly.
Earlier in the event, Ganguly said Bengal needs to win a Ranji trophy so he can celebrate with a triumphing team soon. Bengal, the 2 time champions last won the coveted title in 1989-90 season.
U-19 pacer Ishan Porel won the best U-19 cricketer of the year award and Dipti Sharma won best senior women’s cricketer.
Former Bengal pacer Barun Burman was honoured with the Kartick Bose Lifetime Achievement Award.
