It was only around August that Sri Lanka were blanled 9-0 across formats by a dominant India side.Between then and now,Sri Lanka had a rollercoaster ride in the UAE,where, after a surprise takedown of Paksitan to sweep the two-match Test series, they lost all eight limited-overs matches on tour. Rangana Herath has been Sri Lanka’s “Spin wizard” who has been a consistent performer over the years, but has been unlucky to be playing at the same time as Muttiah Muralitharan, getting few oppurtunities with little room for error.
Sri lanka still boast of some quality players, but there only problem is that they are not performing to their core abilities. They must have a batting plan especially to counter the spin threat posed by returning duo of R Ashwin & Ravindra Jadeja, who are a great threat in Indian conditions .If they can tackle both of them,we can expect nail biting series upfront. .Sadeera Samarawickrama (74) & Niroshan Dickwella (73) showed glimses of good form against the Board President’s 11 . Rangana herath can be a threat in test match due to his subtle variations and dipping turn.He was the initial purveyor of “Carrom” ball and is the senior most and highly experienced player in the current test squad.Apart from him the Islanders lack experience which can be counted as low for the Sri Lankans.
