The first T20 match was played between New Zealand and Sri Lanka on Sunday. In a thrilling match played at Pallekele, New Zealand defeated Sri Lanka by 5 wickets in a rain obstructed match.
Despite the defeat, Sri Lankan team recorded few records to their name. While Captain Lasith Malinga became the highest wicket taker in T20Is with 99 wickets, Sri Lanka became the team with the most loses in T20 format with 57 setbacks.
Apart from this, Sri Lankan batsman Isuru Udana recorded a special achievement to his name. Udana scored an unbeaten 15 in just three balls at a strike rate of 500. He has now become the first Sri Lankan and second player in the world to score runs at a strike rate of 500 by playing more than two balls. Udana, who came out to bat at number six, hit two sixes in three balls and remained unbeaten.
Before Udana, South African player Albie Morkel scored an unbeaten 16 in three balls against India at a strike rate of 533.33.
