There has been a wide debate over the best batsman of the world amongst the “Fab four” of world cricket including heavyweights like Kane Williamson, Steve Smith, Joe Root and Virat Kohli. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar stepped up and picked Virat Kohli as the best batsman of the world currently.
Virat recently notched up his 24th test century against West Indies in the ongoing first test in Saurashtra cricket association stadium in Rajkot. In the process he became the fastest Indian to score 24 centuries in just 123 innings. Overall he is just behind the great “Don Bradman” who achieved the feat in just 66 innings.
Virat is the best in the world- Gavaskar
“Virat Kohli is the best batsman across formats in the modern era. He is by far the best batsman in the world. The way he applies himself is hard to describe. It is beyond phenomenon. If only the West Indies batsmen took a leaf out of his book,” said Sunil Gavaskar who captained India in 47 test match.
“On Thursday, he was not very smooth to start off with perhaps because he was coming back after a break. Then he was in cruise control. Despite the heat, he ran hard not just for himself but also for his batting partner at the other end,” Gavaskar was quoted as saying in India Today,” he added.
