Sushil Kumar clinches gold at National wrestling championship.

Got a walkover in 3 bouts.

India’s most successful and profilic Olympian wrestler Sushil Kumar was expected to deliver a good performance with his return to the mat after 3 long years.Not dissapointing his fans the 34 years old clinched a Gold in his return.The double Olympic medalist had to battle for a mere 2.33 minutes on the court comprising of 2 bouts.He was given a walkover by his opponents in Quarterfinal,Semifinal and Finals.Sushil bagged a gold in mens 74 kg freestyle wrestling.

Dangal girl famed Geeta Phogat alongwith Rio Olympic bronze medalist Sakshi Malik also won gold in their respective category of womens on the 2nd day of the marque event in Indore.

Geeta clinched top honours with a win against Ravita in the final of 59kg category. Whereas Sakshi turned down the challenge of Pooja Tomar of Haryana with a comprehensive win of 10-0 in 62Kg category.

Sushil Kumar on the othe hand was to face Indian International Parveen Rana in the finals, who decided to concede his bout against the 34-year-old in the gold-medal round, claiming muscle injury.

“I got strucked with a muscle strain of my thigh before nationals and i wanted to give a medical. But Railways required 2 wrestlers to represent so i decided to mark myself up for the tournament. After the first bout my injury became more severe and by the finals i could not wrestle;” said Rana.

“In the Semifinal and Quarterfinal two of his opponent showed respect to his senior counterpart and gave him a walkover,” claimed Wrestling federation of India.

The numerical digit “Three” seems to be a lucky number for the veteran .He was making a return after “Three” years and now clinches a gold by a walkover by “Three” opponents.
