Tejaswini Sawant and Anjum Moudgil wins gold and silver in Women's 50m Rifle 3 at Gold Coast CWG

Indian shooters continue to bring glory as Tejaswini Sawant and Anjum Moudgil wins gold and silver in Women’s 50m Rifle 3 at Gold Coast CWG on Friday. Sawant also broke a Commonwealth Games record with a best score of 457.9. On the other hand, Anjum finished second with a score of 455.7.

Experienced Tejaswini shot 407.3, 417.4, 427.4, 437.4, 447.4 and 457.9 over six series in the finals to clinch her seventh Commonwealth medal. Scotland’s Seonaid Mcintosh settled for a bronze medal with a total score of 444.6.

Tejaswini managed to win a silver medal in the women’s 50m rifle prone event yesterday.

This is India’s sixth gold medal in shooting. So far, it has won five silver and five bronze with a total of 16 medals in the discipline alone.

Meanwhile, in Table Tennis, Pooja Sahasrabudhe and Sutirtha Mukherjee lost 0-3 against Tianwei Feng and Mengyu Yu of Singapore in Women’s Doubles Semifinal 1. On the other hand, Mouma Das and Manika Batra also reached the finals of the Women’s Doubles event, assuring another medal for India. They will play their finals on Friday at 3.00 pm.

In wrestling, Divya Kakran eased through the semifinals of Women’s Freestyle 68 kg, while Bajrang Punia entered the men’s freestyle 65 kg semifinals with an emphatic win over Nigeria’s Amas Daniel.

In athletics, India has qualified for the final of Men’s 4 x 400m. Neeraj Chopra and Vipin Khasana also qualified for the final of Javelin throw with a best throw of 80.42 and 78.88 respectively.

In squash, Joshna Chinappa and Dipika Pallikal defeated Samantha Cornett and Nikki Todd of Canada to advance to Women’s Doubles semifinals.

In shooting, 15-year-old Anish Bhanwala won gold in men’s 25m rapid fire pistol.
