2nd T20 report

Indian team pipped a low lying South Africa by 7 wickets to draw first blood in the three match T20 series after the first match in Dharamshala was washed off due to rain. After winning the toss, Indian captain Virat Kohli asked Proteas captain Quinton De Kock to bat first on the wicket which promised to be batsman paradise.

South Africa got to a solid start courtesy Quinton De Kock but Reeza Hendricks on the other end failed to fire and Deepak Chahar got the better of him to give first breakthrough to India. Temba Bavuma and De Kock notched 57 runs for 2nd wicket and put the touring team in a commanding position.

After the dismissal of the Proteas captain, other batsman could not do much and Bavuma failed to fire. Indian bowlers restricted them to 149/5 at the end of the 20 overs.

Indian team got to a flyer courtesy 33 run stand between Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan for the first wicket. After the dismissal of Sharma, Virat and Dhawan batted sensibly and took the game away from the touring team. They added 61 runs for the second wicket which made job tough for the South African bowlers.

Rishabh Pant could not do much and scored just 4 runs before Shreyas Iyer and Virat Kohli completed the proceedings for India to complete a seven wickets victory with 6 balls remaining.

The teams will take on each other in the 3rd T20 at M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru on 22nd September and rain is not expected to spoil the party.
