As love stories are now becoming a thing of past, the audience is demanding real life stories from the Bollywood industry. The directors and producers took the demand of the audience seriously and embarked on the journey to make some lively biopics of famous personalities but the sports biopics got all the spotlight on them. From “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag” to “MS Dhoni, An untold story”, sports biopics have ruled the silver screen and the upcoming movie on badminton star Saina Nehwal have kept the fans gushing.
Tollywood star to act in a biopic
Meanwhile renowned Telugu star Nani is set to portray the role of late Raman Lamba in a biopic directed by Gautam Tinnanuri. The makes revealed the first poster of the movie on new year’s evening.
“At 36 there is nothing left for him to prove in cricket. The dreams and heartburns have been left behind.. 1996-97 Ranji trophy season was just a display of his love for batting,” Nani tweeted with the first poster of the movie.
Lamba’s tragic end
The storyline of the movie has suggested that the movie will be based of former India cricketer Raman Lamba who died in a tragic accident on the field.
Lamba played in four test and 32 ODIs for India after appearing for Ireland in an unofficial ODI matches. The Meerut born suffered the biggest setback when he was hit on the head fielding at forward short leg in a Dhaka Premier league game in Bangladesh.
The shot by the batsman was so fierce that it hit the head of Lamba and deflected to the gloves of the wicket-keeper. His injury didn’t seem to be very serious but he suffered an internal haemorrhage and slipped into a coma. A neurosurgeon flew from Delhi to Dhaka to save the life of the cricketer but the cricketer was removed from the ventilator after three days of the injury and was declared dead.
