Emotions run high when India and Pakistan play a cricket match against each other at any venue of the world. The present scenario is alot different as both the neighbours just meet each other in ICC event or Asian cricket council ties owing to the cross border tension that forced Indian government to stop BCCI to play a bilateral series with Pakistan. On the back of this drama, we take a look at three India born cricketers who played for Pakistan.
3- Gul Mohammad- Born in Lahore(1921)
Who would forget a marathon 319 run innings of Mohammad in a Ranji trophy encounter where he batted for over nine hours. He stitched a partnership of 577 runs alongside the legendary Vijay Hazare that was only broken after 59 years. Mohammad was also renowned for his quick fire hundred playing for Rest of India against Western India in 1942 that set him as a future prospect for the Indian team.
He later went onto don the Indian jersey in 1946 and played eight test matches for India.
Mohammad later shifted to Pakistan after the Independence from Britishers in 1947. He played just one test for Pakistan and later served as a cricket administration. He was in director board of the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore till 1987 and then a cricket coach in the Punjab Sports Board.
