Three players who might be dropped for the West Indies T20 series

India was lucky enough to get a win from the jaws of defeat courtesy Shreyas Iyer’s brilliance in batting and Deepak Chahar’s brilliance in bowling. However, a win may hide all the weak links in the team but in order to better the chances for 2020 t20 World Cup, India may try some new names for the West Indies T20 series next month and axe some of the players.

3- Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan ruled out of World Cup 2019 for three weeksThe Indian opener failed to fire in the three innings of the Bangladesh series and his record of 2019 has not been acceptable. In 12 T20Is, Dhawan has 272 runs at a strike-rate of 110.56, which is far from being the best in the shorter version.

His poor strike sometimes forces Rohit Sharma to fire all cylinders and exerts extra pressure on him. Someone like KL Rahul can replace him for the Windies series.

2- Rishabh Pant

Four wicket keeper batsman who can replace Rishabh PantThe Delhi batsman has failed to perform on a consistent basis in this format. He may be a devastating batter in IPL but his national numbers have not been appealing for the selectors. To make it worse for him, his decision making behind the stumps and call on “DRS” has been a failure and it will only weaken his case.

He just averages 19.88 with a poor strike rate of 118.15 in International cricket and someone like Sanju Samson can replace him.

1- Khaleel Ahmed

Deepak Chahar may had a good outing in blue jersey against Bangladesh but his partner Khaleel Ahmed failed to make it count. The Tonk born pacer ended with an economy of over 9 in the Bangladesh series and leaked runs which didn’t went well for India.

With more fancied options like Shardul Thakur and Navdeep Saini also in selection radar, he is likely to be dropped for the West Indies T20 seris.
