Olympics are back after a gap of three years as a strong 117 member Indian contingent is all set to bring glory to the country as it fight it out to have their most successful Olympic campaign. Its worth mentioning that 2020 Tokyo Olympics was scheduled in 2021 due to the Covid-19 threat in the Japanese capital city which ensured that there is only 3 years gap for the next Olympic games. India finished at 48th spot in the table at the last Olympics having won the coveted gold medal on the last day courtesy Neeraj Chopra’s brilliance in the Javelin Throw event and combined to win 7 medals overall with 2 silver and 4 bronze.

India will be raring to take its medal tally past 10 medals this time and return home with ample of gold medals and the onus will lie on the shooters, shutlers, athletics and boxing. India will start its campaign at Paris on 27th July but the unofficial start to Indian campaign will be on 25th July when Indian archers will take the field to compete in the ranking round that gives them the seedings. The remaining stages will be held from July 28 to August 4 at Les Invalides.

Having secured quota in both men’s and women’s team event, India will compete in all 5 medal discipline of archery- men’s individual, women’s individual, men’s team, women’s team and mixed team.

The Indian women’s team boasts of former world no 1 Deepika Kumari alongside debutants Ankita Bhagat and Bhajan Kaur. The men’s team comprises of veteran Tarundeep Rai, Dhiraj Bommadevara and Pravin Jadhav.
