Tom Curran announced as replacement for injured Mitchell Starc in IPL 2018

Kolkata Knight Riders have announced English fast bowler Tom Curran as replacement for injured Mitchell Starc in IPL 2018, as per the reports. Starc was bought for a heafty sum of INR 9.4 Cr by KKR during the IPL auction which was held in January. He is suffering from ‘tibial bone stress’ in his right leg. He was also ruled out of the fourth and final Test against South Africa, in Johannesburg. Curran was with England for the test series against New Zealand, but was not picked in the playing 11.

The South African-born cricketer moved to England in 2015 and had represented the country across 16 matches and picked 21 wickets. Curran has played 51 T20 matches and picked 53 wickets, with an economy rate of 8.25. He is renowned for his fiery yorkers that make him a death overs specialist in the shortest format of the game.

Earlier, another Englishman Alex Hales was announced as the replacement for David Warner in Sunrisers Hyderabad.

KKR will kickstart their campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore on 8th April.
