5. Dinesh Chandimal (Sri Lanka)

Chandimal seems to be the only Lankan batsmen to score runs with impressive average this year.  During the one-off Test against Zimbabwe in July 2017. In the match, Chandimal scored 55 in the first innings, which is recorded as the highest test score by a debut captain in a first innings for Sri Lanka as well. Sri Lanka won the match by 4 wickets at the end, by chasing massive total of 388 runs. This chase was recorded as the best chase by Sri Lanka in Tests and best successful chase in Asia.

On 6 October 2017, against Pakistan, Sri Lanka played their first day-night Test match. Chandimal scored 62 in the first innings, but dismissed for naught in the second innings. However, Sri Lanka won the match by 68 runs and won the series 2-0. With that, Chandimal had the destinction of being first captain in Sri Lanka’s first day-night Test, and went to win the match. Top 10 batsmen in test cricket 

During the India tour in November, Chandimal scored back to back fifties in two innings but could not stop the defeat imposed on his team. He was the stand out performer for Sri Lanka in 2nd test. In the 3rd test he scored a blistering ton to draw the match against the world no. 1 test side.

4. Hashim Amla

Amla continued his good run of form in tests. He continued to build the strong base, by pilling up the heap of runs, opening the batting for South Africa. During the third test against Sri Lanka on 12 January 2017, Amla played his 100th Test, becoming the 8th South African to play for 100 tests. By ending 9 innings without a fifty in recent test tours, Amla finally scored his 26th century in his 100th match and regained his test average over 50 as well. With that century, Amla became the 8th test player overall and 2nd South African after Graeme Smith to score a century in 100th test. When he complete 100 test match he got the title (#Mighty hash)
