Top five cricketers who may never play for India after 2019 World Cup

3- Vijay Shankar

Chief selector MSK Prasad adjudged him as a 3D player after his inclusion in the squad for the world cup but he could not do justice with the tag. He played at the number four slot for India but his unimpressive numbers didn’t go well with cricket pundits who questioned his selection in the team over much fancied Ambati Rayudu, who recently announced his retirement after world cup snub.

Shankar scored 58 runs and picked 2 wickets in three innings of the world cup. He was ruled out of the world cup following a toe injury and was replaced by Karnataka opener- Mayank Agarwal. Considering his unimpressive run, he may not get another chance for the the national team in the future.

2- Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan ruled out of World Cup 2019 for three weeks Shikhar Dhawan’s injury in the ongoing world cup proved to be a big setback for India as the Delhi lad has a habit of scoring big in ICC tournaments. However, KL Rahul joined Rohit as his opening partner and did not look back since then. The two have given solid start to India, especially in the game against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka where they put up a 180 and 189 run stand for the first wicket respectively.

Considering, Shikhar Dhawan is 33-year-old, he may not continue till the next world cup and selectors will be looking to make Rahul as the permanent opening partner alongside Rohit Sharma, after superb show in the ongoing world cup except the semi-final against New Zealand. Rahul is currently 27-year-old and holds a great future for the national team.

He may take a call soon on his retirement and the sources close to India Today quoted that he is unlikely for the West Indies tour.
