Top three cricketing nations under the radar of spot-fixing

Qatari news media channel Al Jazeera investigation has brought some unexpected reports which states that there were 24 spot-fixing instances from 2011-12 across 15 International matches. The report further added that cricketers from Australia, England and Pakistan were involved in the spot-fixing in the given period of time.

It is learnt that England players allegedly carried out spot-fixing in seven matches; Australia players in five matches; Pakistan players in three.

The matches include six Tests, six ODIs and three World T20 encounters.

“As with the first programme we have and will continue to ask for the cooperation of the broadcaster. We have made repeated efforts to engage with the broadcaster as it can play such a crucial part in the full and thorough investigation it has called for,” ICC Anti-Corruption GM Alex Marshall said.

The news organization report further said that the matches affected by spot-fixing includes an England-India test match at Lord’s Cricket Ground, a South Africa-Australia match in Cape Town and several games during England’s series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates.
