An inspired Indian team thumped Bangladesh by a convincing margin of 7 wickets to register their first win in Super 4 stage of Asia Cup. Bangladesh looked totally off-colour in the game and India made sure that they cross the final line without any hurdle.

Earlier in the match, India won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah again ran through the Bangladeshi top order, dismissing both the openers in course of 16 runs. The returning Ravindra Jadeja brought his experience into action and created a havoc in Bangladeshi middle-order. Struggling at 101/7 after the dismissal of Mosaddek Hossain(12), Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza(26) and Mehidy Hasan(42) stitched a 66-run partnership to take team’s total to 173/10 after 50 overs, which was never enough to challenge this Indian team which boast of a formidable batting unit.

Chasing a small target of 174 runs, Rohit Sharma(83*) and Shikhar Dhawan(40) gave a flying start to India after a 61-run stand for the first wicket. Ambati Rayudu(13) fell to Rubel Hossain courtesy of a brilliant review by wicket-keeper Mushfiqur Rahim which brought MS Dhoni to the crease amid all the roar by the Indian fans in the stadium. Dhoni(33) found some form by adding 54 runs with Rohit Sharma to bring India close to victory before perishing to Mashrafe Mortaza.

Dinesh Karthik scored the winning runs for India to register a dominant victory over their neighbours from East.
