Serbia’s Novak Djokovic bagged his third US Open title on Sunday with a 6-3, 7-6 (7/4), 6-3 victory over Olympic silver medallist Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina. Djokovic now equals with Pete Sampras’s mark of 14 Grand Slams. He was struggling to find his form in the recent times but on resurgent terms he who won Wimbledon in July, and will climb to fourth in the world ranking after triumph in New York.

Djokovic, 31, has allready won the title in 2011 and 2015. He is now just three titles behind Rafael Nadal and six back from the record 20 held by Roger Federer.

World Number three Del Potro played his second ever Grand Slam final and he could have been 100% efficient if he managed to win this title. The Argentine star won his first Grand Slam title(US Open) way back in 2009.
