India made a thunderous comeback after losing the second test match by notching up 443 runs in the first innings of third test match and then the Indian bowlers came to the fray and bowled out the hosts on just 151 runs. Jasprit Bumrah’s six wicket haul gave India the much needed 292 runs lead going into the second innings.
Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara added 170 runs for the third wicket partnership that set the tone for India in the first innings. Some valuable contribution from Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant took India close to 450 runs that landed them in a safe zone from where they can’t lose a test match.
Chasing a mammoth target of 443 runs, Australian batters completely looked out of touch. They managed to survive the last six overs of second days play but Indian bowlers created havoc in the first session of third day’s play.
Gujarat pacer Jasprit Bumrah took all the limelight by delivering a slow yorker to dismiss in-form Shaun Marsh. The southpaw batter was looking in great touch on 19 after facing 61 balls and was set to take Australia to a comfortable position but Jasprit Bumrah’s last ball variation proved too good for him.
The Indian pacer bowled five balls over 140 km/hr in the over and then a came up with a surprise slow yorker, measuring 111 km/hr which was unanswerable by Marsh. He failed to pick up the slower ball and was plump before the wicket.
