India registered a convincing victory over Bangladesh in the first test at Indore to be 1-0 up in the two match series and bag all 60 points to consolidate their position in world test championship points table. The action will now shift to Eden Gardens in Kolkata where the two teams will play their first ever day night test with SG pink ball. Due will be a decisive factor in the game and the team who can bat sensibly will emerge victorious as the pink cherry generates more swing from the pitch, making life difficult for the batters.
Meanwhile, before the all important encounter, vice skipper Ajinkya Rahane took to Instagram to express his excitement about the historic match. He kept a pink leather ball besides him on the bed and captioned “Already dreaming about the historic pink ball test”.
Indian captain Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan soon caught the post and they didn’t left a chance to troll Rahane. Kohli replied “Nice pose jinksy”, while Dhawan said “Sapney mein pic khich gayi”.
More about day night test
The BCCI experimented with the format in 2017 Duleep trophy in Ekana International stadium in Lucknow and Green Parks in Kanpur, where the matches were played under the lights. However, no current Indian player played in that tournament but Wriddhiman Saha and Mohammed Shami have the experience of playing with pink cherry in day/night test. They played the game in a West Bengal league.
The two Bengal cricketers will look forward to share their experience with rest of the team mates which will prove beneficial when they take the field against Bangladesh from 22nd November in Kolkata.
