MS Dhoni has been a great servant to the Indian cricket, becoming the only man to have all the ICC trophies in the cabinet. A great captain and an immense power hitter, who precisely earned the tag of a “finisher”. However, with the growing age, his striking powers have degraded considerably which makes him an easy target for the fancied Indian fans to talk about his role in the team.
In an exclusive interview with Times Now, Virat Kohli opened up on MS Dhoni’s future and his thoughts on various issues concerning the Indian cricket team.
“If we speak and think like people on the outside, Indian cricket will be in big trouble, I can promise you that. It’s far from the fantastical world on the outside where issues are created out of nowhere,” said Kohli
“Suddenly when the team is doing so well, people look for disharmony and we (cricketers) are like how negative people can become, that you want to sell something negative or speak about something negative all the time,” he added.
Further commenting on the sort of treatment the team receives, Kohli said that when they lose, questions are fired at them from all corners but a win is only followed up with a feature or two.
“When we lose, there are debates all the time which are non-stop and when we win, just two features and then on to the next news. So, it doesn’t matter to us what people say or write on the outside. We understand where we are heading as a team and are absolutely comfortable,” Kohli opined.
