Virender Sehwag thinks India is not the favourite to win the World Cup, picks these two teams

Team India is currently plying its trade in the ongoing cricket world cup where they are currently at the number three position in the pool after two wins in as many games. The men in blue first pipped South Africa by 6 wickets in Southampton and they followed it up with a win against defending champions Australia by 36 runs in London.

After pipping Australia in the group stage clash, India stamped its authority and became the overwhelming favourites to lift the cup alongside England. However, former India opener Virender Sehwag doesn’t feel the same.

Sehwag names his favourites of the tournament

The “Nawab of Najafgarh” feels India is not the favourite to lift the 2019 world cup but agreed that the men in blue will make the semi-finals of the tournament. He further opined that England and Australia are the overwhelming favourites to lift the trophy on 14th July at the iconic Lord’s stadium in London.

“People may have picked India as the favourites after the win against Australia but in my views Australia and England are the favourites of the world cup. If you do not play good cricket on the day of semi-final against these two teams, you will not be able to beat either of those two teams whether its India, Pakistan, South Africa or any other team.

“In my views, Indian team is not the favourite to lift the cup but our team will make the semi-finals and will also make the finals if we don’t face Australia or England in the semis,” Sehwag told Shoaib Akhtar on his official Youtube channel.

Sehwag further said the way Pakistan pipped England in the world cup is impressive. But he disagreed to pick Pakistan as his top four favourite over New Zealand as he had allready predicted the semi-finalists of the tournament. He had earlier picked India, Australia, New Zealand and England as his semi-finalists.
