This youngster is the best powerplay bowler for India and its not Jasprit Bumrah

Washington Sundar best powerplay bowler for India since 2017

Team India has begin its quest for the 2020 T20 World Cup title which is scheduled to take place in October. Head Coach Ravi Shastri has made it clear that they need to have a core of 18 players and are not afraid of investing in new talents. Shastri noted that roping in new talents may not be fruitful initially but it will pay dividends after some time. With the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav not playing in the ongoing T20 series against South Africa, young guns will have an opportunity to prove their worth in the team.

Surprisingly, India have produced some top class bowlers in the recent past like Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah but Washington Sundar is India’s star in powerplay overs.Statistics reveal that the Tamil Nadu all-rounder is India’s best powerplay bowler in T20 since 2017. The 19-year-old cricketer has bagged nine wickets in powerplay overs. Only Akila Dhananjaya(Sri Lanka), David Willey(England), and Billy Stanlake(Australia) have more wicket than him in first six overs(powerplay).

Sundar has troubled the left handed batsman and he will come handy against South Africa, who have David Miller and Quinton de Kock.
