Virat Kohli was the lone warrior left for India after the team kept loosing regular wickets in the hands of moving duke ball. Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay gave a solid foundation at the start but after the fall of Vijay, the wickets kept tumbling that saw Indian captain build partnerships with lower order batsman. Virat had a tough 2014 test series in England but he got over the history and notched up his maiden test hundred in the 65th over of the innings. In the process he also became the fourth Indian captain to complete a century in England.

The Indian skipper later went on to score 149 runs before he fell to Adil Rashid, who claimed two wickets. India got bundled out on 273 runs despite loosing top 6 batsman under 150 runs, thanks to the efforts of Virat Kohli. England got a 13 runs lead based on their first innings total of 287 runs.
Like the first innings Ravichandran Ashwin striked early to bowl out Alastair Cook on duck. England are 9/1 in the second innings as the umpires called day off. The action now resumes on an all important day three of the test match that will swing in the favour of the team that performs exceptionally well on the day.
