Pakistan thumped India by 10 wickets to win the first match of Group B comfortably and break the jinx of losing to India in the world cups. After losing the toss, Pakistan asked India to bat first and Shaheen Shah Afridi proved the decision right by removing KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma in the start. SuryaKumar Yadav countered attack but Hasan Ali got the better of him. Rishabh Pant(39 off 30) and Virat Kohli(57 off 49) tried to fight back but with the fall of Pant, Indian innings never got the momentum. Virat Kohli was left with the lower middle order batsman but Jadeja and Pandya failed to contribute as India just managed 151 runs in the course of 20 overs. Shaheen Afridi was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/31. Hasan Ali chipped in with 2 wickets, Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf bagged one wicket each.
Pakistan got off to a flier courtesy Mohammad Rizwan(79 off 55) and Babar Azam(68 off 52) but the Indian pace trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and especially Bhuvneshwar Kumar looked off colour. The bowlers kept leaking runs and the mystery of Varun Chakravarthy never held back the men in green. Dew factor also contributed to India’s misery as the bowlers failed to grip the ball properly and spinners failed to create any impact in the match and as a result Pakistan won the game by 10 wickets to make it 5-1 in world cup against India.
After the match got over, Indian skipper Virat Kohli went to the congratulate Rizwan and Babar for the win and his heartwarming gesture is winning the internet. Here is the video-
