A modern master and the greatest ever from India, that’s how we can define Virat Kohli and Sunil Chhetri respectively. Virat, the captain of Indian cricket team and Sunil Chhetri, the captain of Indian football team have huge respect for each other and that may be the reason that they are good friends with each other.
Chhetri talked about his friendship with Virat Kohli and the light heart moments he shared with the Indian cricketer in an interview with Times of India.
Chhetri, 34, said that turning vegetarian has helped him recover quickly from the injuries. He also talked to Virat when the Delhi lad turned a vegan last year.
“Yes (when asked if Virat is in touch with him regularly). Most of our chats are about football, diet — I don’t know whether he has announced it, but he is vegan now. I am also vegan now. It is great, it is a good feeling. I didn’t start because of love for animals. Because after eating 2000 lambs I can’t say that. (But at my age) It helps in recovery,” Chhetri said.
Making fun of Virat
Chhetri shared a light hearted moment and told that once he made fun of the 30-years-old after he ordered south Indian dish- Idli.
“I did chat with him about that. He turned one almost six months back. I used to make fun of him. One of the things we did for Star Sports, he ordered for some idli and I asked him what was wrong with him.
“His wife is also a vegetarian. It is not easy to do what he is doing. What Virat is doing is unbelievable. He is also different from others in person. What he eats, how he trains, he is different from others,” he said.
Professional front
Currently, Chhetri is plying his trade with Bengaluru FC in the Indian Super League. He will be eyeing to guide his team to maiden ISL title after losing last year’s final against Chennaiyin FC.
Virat is currently on a holiday with his wife Anushka Sharma after he was rested for the last two ODIs and T20 series against New Zealand.
