The big question of MS Dhoni’s return is still a mystery as the veteran cricketer was last seen in the 2019 World Cup semi-final, where India lost to New Zealand to bow out of the tournament. Dhoni has kept himself out of the national duties ever since he made himself unavailable for the series against West Indies. It may be clear that Dhoni will not make a comeback in the national team and the young players will be preferred over him.

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, there will be a meeting between BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and the selectors in Mumbai on October 24 to decide whether Dhoni will remain in the team or not.

The report states, if Dhoni will be available for the T20 series against Bangladesh next month, then too he will not be given a chance. The committee led by MSK Prasad is eyeing new players for the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia next year.

Recently BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said in a media interaction on Dhoni’s retirement issue, “We have to see what Dhoni wants. I would like to ask him what he wants and what not. When I meet the selectors on the 24th, I will talk about it. I would like to know what the selectors are thinking. After this, I will express my opinion.

He added that he would first know the opinion of the selectorion committee led by MSK Prasad before talking any further about Dhoni’s future with the Indian team. The veteran of 350 ODIs may be picked for the ODI series against West Indies which starts in December this year.
