Mehuli Ghosh(Shooting)
The shooter from Bengal has won bronze in individual 10m Air rifle and team event in the ongoing ISSF shooting world cup in Mexico. Daughter of a non-permanent government worker who literally struggled to make ends meet, she was soon ostracised by her peers and had to seek counselling for a while to keep alive her dream of pursuing a career in shooting. Mehuli used to travel around 80km each day — from Baidyabati (her home) to Newtown in Rajarhat with her heavy kit bag. There were days when she used to reach home at midnight after the training.
