The build to the upcoming cricket world cup has allready started with all the 10 participating teams making sure that they get the right combination before the start of the marquee event. The world cup will get underway from May 30 and will continue till July 14.
England are the firm favourites to lift the trophy, however some experts claim India to be a force to reckon with alongside Australia who are high in confidence after pipping India 3-2 in India and clean sweeping Pakistan 5-0 in United Arab Emirates(UAE). The returning Steve Smith and David Warner will add more strength to the team.
Sachin Tendulkar predicts the semi-finalists
Many former cricketers and pundits have done the difficult task by predicting the winner and tough competitors of the tournament. Meanwhile, former India great Sachin Tendulkar has come forward and said that India, hosts England and a resurgent Australia will make it to the semis. The veteran of 463 ODIs opined that 2017 Champions trophy winners- Pakistan or New Zealand can take the last spot in the semi-finals.
“India, England, Australia should be in the semis. The fourth could be one of New Zealand or Pakistan,” Sachin said.
The world cup gets underway with heavyweights England squaring off against all time favourites South Africa on May 30. 2011 champions India will start their campaign against South Africa on June 5.
