Brock Lesnar made a shocking return to last night’s Hell in a Cell in the main event between Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns where he assaulted and took down both the superstars which meant that the match finished with no result. Lesnar was out of the title picture after his loss to Reigns at Summerslam but his return yesterday make the pundits believe that he has yet again signed a contract with WWE.
Lesnar was in doubt for his tenure with WWE after the former champion was speculated to return to octagon. His contract with WWE also expired after Summerslam but he returned yesterday because he has still not signed a deal with UFC.
Why he returned to WWE
It is learnt that WWE generated lot of revenue from the show in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia(Greatest Royal Rumble). The company has signed a 10 year deal with the country to run the show.
Meltzer writes that based on WWE’s business statements it appears the company added $45 million in revenue from that one date – more than even an event like WrestleMania generates.
Brock took on Roman Reigns in a controversial match at Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia and Brock’s interference in yesterday’s PPV brings him back to title contention which can again build up his feud with Reigns.
WWE is set to travel to Saudi Arabia in November for another show where Roman Reigns will defend his title against Brock Lesnar or the match will be a triple threat encounter, with Braun Strowman being the third competitor.
However, Lesnar’s future with the company looks uncertain after Saudi Arabia.
