WWE News: Drew McIntyre to defend his WWE title against former champion at Backlash

Drew McIntyre has been a fighting champion after he won the Royal Rumble and went onto take the WWE Title from Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania. The same night, McIntyre competed against Big Show to successfully defend his title and has been put up a great fight to defend against Seth Rollins at money in the bank pay per view.

McIntyre’s next opponent revealed

The Scottish Psychopath faced SmackDown’s Baron Corbin on this week’s episode of RAW but the same night Bobby Lashley challenged McIntyre to a WWE title match after MVP motivated him to challenge for the title. Now WWE has made the match official for Backlash pay per view which airs on 14th June 2020.

Oh YOU’RE putting ME on notice? Good. This is the [Bobby Lashley] EVERYONE has wanted to see for two years now. You’re a dangerous man, but leave your marital issues at the door because if we’re going to do this, I want the very best version of Lashley. I’ll be waiting,” Drew tweeted.

“Did I stutter? Careful what you wish for Champ. You want ‘this Lashley’…you got it. See you at #WWEBacklash,” Bobby replied.

Edge has also accepted Randy Orton’s challenge to a wrestling match at Backlash and the WWE has been promoting it as the greatest wrestling match ever in the history. Its worth mentioning that Orton lost to a returning Edge at Wrestlemania in a last man standing match and both appeared on last week’s episode of RAW.

Orton said that the better man won but the better wrestler lost and then challenged Edge for a wrestling match at next pay per view- Backlash. Edge finally accepted the challenge in this week’s episode of RAW and thus making match official.
