The T20 encounter in Bengaluru may have been the last time when we witnessed former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni play in his last T20 International in the blue jersey. There are no more T20 fixtures before the world cup and the show piece event may be the last time when MS Dhoni will feature for the country.
The veteran from Ranchi took the reigns of the team in the 2007 world T20 where he had a young team with all the big boys rested. It was his magical captaincy that won India the inaugural world T20 which was held in South Africa where they defeated Pakistan in the high profile final.
Dhoni shines in Bengaluru
Probably in his last T20 match in the shortest format for the country, MS Dhoni rescued India from a tricky situation and stitched a quickfire 100 run stand with skipper Virat Kohli that saw India reach a respectable total of 190 runs in the 20 overs at a batsman friendly Chinnaswamy wicket. Dhoni scored 40 off just 23 balls to continue his tremendous run of form which he continued from the Australia tour.
Indian bowlers could not contain the firepower of Glenn Maxwell who made sure that the visitors reach the target with ease with seven wickets remaining. Australia took the T20 series 2-0 but Dhoni’s certain last T20 innings still had a big impact on the game.
