India’s top singles player Yuki Bhambri who was not part of Asian Games following his participation in US Open has been ousted in the first round of season’s last Grand Slam. He once again faltered in the initial stages of a grand slam tournament as the jinx continues.
In a match lasting nearly two and half hour, Bhambri the world ranked 96 lost to world ranked 75 Pierre-Hugues Herbert of France 3-6 6-7 (3-7) 5-7.
After loosing the first set, the Delhi boy showed some fight in the second set and eventually took it to the tie breaker where the French man prevailed to win the set 6-7 (3-7). In the third and decisive set the French man came up with 13 winners whereas, Bhambri failed to hit any of those which was the difference between the two opponents.
